Another ancient form of body modification that is still going strong: Scarification! Used for many reasons in ancient times, such as defining what tribe you belong to, rites of passage or through tradition, this form of body modification has carried on into modern times. Like tattoos and piercings, scarification is a way to express ones individuality in a very creative and unique way. Some examples of Modern Scarification:

Recently I’ve noticed a lot of tattoos that stand out from the rest just on their artistic merit. These tattoos don’t follow the golden rules of your usual tattoo flash, but resemble the finer strokes of real pallet and paint art masterpiece.
A majority of them look as if they could be hung in a gallery and sold at an auction to real art collectors.. but I could assume that the people getting this style of work done are on the same par as those hard core art collectors too!?
Due to this style being so unusual and off the wall it reminds me of the original new art that was started by Alphonse Mucha in France in the 1890’s, so with this Art Nouveau the originators of the movement include such amazing French artists as Xoil (www.bigtattooplanet.com/xoil).

I’ve been posting about game and movies tattoos recently and this is simply because its sharing two things i love in one, for instance i adore films and i adore tattoos, put the two together and BAM! i’m in heaven! The idea for this blog was to show great tattoo art and all that comes with it but to also share my journey through the tattoo world with you. So i thought i would do a better introduction about me, and what i’m currently up to which is putting together my portfolio so i can hopefully get to the next step which is an APPRENTICESHIP!!! So here’s me :
So as i mentioned i’m Epiphany and currently i’m about to start an open art course at Uni. I spend most of my time honing my art skills mostly working in pencil, though i have recently been studying traditional tattoo art so I’ve been delving in paint and ink. Here’s some recent additions to my portfolio :
So i’m hoping to keep all you updated on this crazy journey of a girl and her art, isn’t it exciting!
